毎回テーマを決め作品を制作しますので参加作家達がつくる新作が楽しみな展覧会です。

第25回「小田原もあ」展の開催について
〈ご紹介に伴いすどう美術館の館長、須藤一郎さんに紹介文をいただきましたので掲載します。〉
25回目となる「小田原もあ」展が、来る4月17日（水）より21日（日）まで開かれます。今回は小田原三の丸ホールの展示室を会場としてで、これまで以上に大掛かりな展示を見ていただけると出展者一同が張り切って準備を進めているところです。
ご承知の方が多いかと思いますが、「小田原もあ」展は2010年に小田原市の「無尽蔵プロジェクト」の一つとして生まれたもので、（も）と（あ）は「ものづくり」と「アート」の頭文字をとったものです。
もう少し説明を加えますと小田原在の寄木細工、木工、鋳金などの伝統工芸作家とすどう美術館関係の現代アート作家とのコラボ展です。工芸作家は伝統に安住せず、現代アートの新しい面を取り入れ、アートの作家は寄木の廃材を絵の中に取り入れたり、鋳金とのコラボのアート作品を作ったりとお互いに交流しあい、刺激しあって今日を迎えています。
今回の統一テーマはヨコ文字でThis is the Odawara “MOA“。まさにその集大成となる「もあ」がこの展覧会で見られるのではないでしょうか。楽しみが湧いてきます。工芸とアートの作家15名が参加して行われます。
リーダーは工芸側が鋳金の柏木照之さん、アート側が朝比奈賢さん。そして、当初から関わってきている私と寄木細工の露木清勝さんが顧問を務めさせていただいています。
なお、もう一つお伝えしたいのは最終日4月21日（日）午後3時から行われる出展者それぞれによるトークです。自分の作った作品についての熱い思いが語られるのではないかと興味深々です。
会期中、ぜひ多くの皆さんにお出かけいただき、楽しんでいただけますことを願っています。

The 25th “Odawara Moa” exhibition will be held from April 17 (Wed) to 21 (Sun). This year’s exhibition will be held in the exhibition room of Odawara San-no-maru Hall, and all the exhibitors are preparing for a larger exhibition than ever before.
As many of you may know, the “Odawara Moa” exhibition was created in 2010 as part of Odawara City’s “Mujinzou Project,” where “mo” and “a” are the initial letters of “monozukuri” and “art.
To explain a little more, the exhibition is a collaboration between traditional Odawara-based craftsmen of marquetry, woodwork, and metal casting, and contemporary artists associated with Gallery SUDOH. The craftsmen are not content with tradition, but have adopted new aspects of contemporary art, while the artists have incorporated scrap wood from marquetry into their paintings and collaborated with metal casting to create works of art.
The unifying theme of this year’s exhibition is “This is the Odawara “MOA”” in Japanese. I am sure that we will see the culmination of “MOA” in this exhibition. It will be a lot of fun. The exhibition will be held with the participation of 15 artists of crafts and art.
The leaders are Teruyuki Kashiwagi, a cast metal artist, on the craft side, and Ken Asahina on the art side. Kiyokatsu Tsuyuki and I, a marquetry artist who has been involved in this project from the beginning, are serving as advisors.
One more thing I would like to mention is the talk by each exhibitor that will be held on the last day of the exhibition, April 21 (Sunday), from 3:00 pm. I am very interested to hear what they have to say about their own works.
I hope that many of you will visit and enjoy the exhibition during its duration.
