NEW STORY
いろいろな形での美術活動を皆さんのご支援をいただき、今も続けられていますが、コロナやその他の事情でいくつかのプロジェクトが中止のままになっています。それらが復活できればとの思いもあり、このたび実現の運びになったのが、すどう美術館企画展「NEW STORY」です。
世の中や環境が様々に変化しても、アートが人間にとってなくてはならないもの、ということは変わりません。アーティストの皆さんが、現代、そして未来に生きる作品を展示できる場を作るとともに、その作品を多くの皆さんに見ていただきたいとの思いでこの展覧会を企画しました。今後も継続していきたいと考えています。
第一回目の今回は6月23日（日）より30日（日）までで、朝比奈賢、信濃光則、髙橋玉恵、宮塚春美の関わりの深い4人の皆さんに出展をお願いしました。それぞれが独自の世界を持つ方ですので、どんな展覧会になるのかとても楽しみです。
なお、最終日に、作品に囲まれた中で音楽を聴いていただく演奏会も企画しました。出演は現在NHK交響楽団で大活躍中の大鹿由希（ヴァイオリン）、渡邊方子（チェロ）のお二人です。
大鹿由希さんの大鹿家とはその昔、私たちが住んでいた町田市のつくし野という町の近所同志で、ずいぶん親しくしていました。小さい時から由希さんはよく私の家に遊びに来ており、したがって由希さん（私はまだ由希ちゃんと呼んでいます）が、ヴァイオリンでいろいろ賞をもらい立派になって、ＮＨＫ交響楽団に入団したまでの様子もよく知っているのです。しかも私が美術の活動を始めるといろいろな場面で演奏をお願いし、助けていただいています。
東日本の大震災の後、すどう美術館が事務局となって「東日本げんきアートプロジェクト」を立ち上げ、被害の大きかった岩手県大槌町を中心に数年にわたり、現地での展覧会、ワークショップとともにコンサートも行いましたが、由希ちゃんがその都度、他のメンバーを連れきてくださっていたのです。
大槌町とのつながりが今も続いており、由希ちゃんのお世話もあって、この演奏会に大槌町の中学生で、未来の芸術家を目指す澤舘優理佳さんのヴァイオリンの演奏も聞かせていただけることになりました。
会場はすどう美術館収蔵作品展で毎年お世話になっている、神奈川県秦野市のぎゃらりー ぜんです。
展覧会、演奏会ともにたくさんの皆さんのご来場を願っています。

[ Gallery SUDOH director’s monologue ] Part58 “NEW STORY”

NEW STORY
While art activities in various forms have been and continue to be carried out with your support, several projects have remained suspended due to Covit-19 and other circumstances. I hope that these projects can be revived, and this is why the Gallery SUDOH is pleased to present “NEW STORY,” an exhibition planned by the Gallery SUDOH.
Even as the world and the environment change in various ways, art remains an indispensable part of human life. I have planned this exhibition to create a place where artists can exhibit their works that live in the present and the future, and to have as many people as possible see their works. I would like to continue to do so in the future.
The first exhibition will be held from June 23 (Sun.) to 30 (Sun.), and I have asked four people with whom I have close relationships – Ken Asahina, Mitsunori Shinano, Tamae Takahashi, and Harumi Miyatsuka – to exhibit their works. Each of them has their own unique world, so I am very much looking forward to seeing what the exhibition will be like.
On the last day of the festival, a concert was planned for the audience to listen to the music surrounded by the works. Performers are Yuki Oshika (violin) and Masako Watanabe (cello), both of whom are currently active with the NHK Symphony Orchestra.
Yuki Oshika’s Oshika family and I were neighbors in Tsukushino, a town in Machida City where we used to live, and we were very close to each other. Yuki-san often came to my house when she was little, so I knew her (I still call her Yuki-chan) well until she won various prizes for her violin and became a member of the NHK Symphony Orchestra. Moreover, when I started my art activities, I asked her to play for me on various occasions, and she has helped me a lot.
After the Great East Japan Earthquake, Gallery SUDOH became the secretariat of the “GENKI Art Power Project for East Japan ” and organized exhibitions, workshops, and concerts for several years, mainly in Otsuchi Town, Iwate Prefecture, which was severely damaged by the disaster. Yuki brought other members with her each time.
Our connection with the town of Otsuchi continues to this day, and with Yuki’s help, we were able to have Yurika Sawadate, a junior high school student from Otsuchi who aspires to be a future artist, play the violin at this concert.
The venue is Gallery Zen in Hadano City, Kanagawa Prefecture, where the Gallery SUDOH Collection Exhibition is held every year.
I wish for many visitors to come to both the exhibition and the concert.
