すどう美術館カレンダー
まだ少し早めですが、2024年のすどう美術館カレンダーについてのお知らせです。
すどう美術館では1998年に銀座に進出しました時に、その記念の意味も含めましてカレンダーを作成しました。それが好評でありましたこともあり、それから毎年、オリジナルのカレンダーを作成しております。数えてみると本年の2023年のものまで、もう26回作ってきたことになります。
これまでどういうカレンダーを作ってきたかですが、いろいろ変遷はあるのですが、芸術性に実用性を兼ねたものとの基本的な考えは変えておりません。
上部に画家の作品を選んで掲げ、下部の数字面はちょっと書き込みができるように工夫してきました。
当初しばらくは、男性画家には申しわけなかったのですが、関係のある女性画家にお願いし絵を描いていただき、それを使ってのものでした。
そして、描いていただいた画家12人の原画展をその都度行っていました。
それからやがて、男性も含め、すどう美術館で展覧会を行なった時の作品から選んで作成するように変わり、また、その中にコレクションの作品も入れるようになりました。
東日本大震災後、美術家、演奏家などの協力を得て、「東日本げんきアートプロジェクト」を立ち上げ、数年にわたり、被災者の心に寄り添うため、大きな被害を受けた岩手の大槌へ展覧会や、演奏などを行う活動をしましたが、その時に展示した作品を使ったこともあります。
近年はコレクションの展覧会が主体になってきたこともあり、コレクションの作品から作るようになっています。特に2020年に多摩美術大学美術館で2か月近くにわたり、収蔵作品展を開催してからは美術館が撮影してくださった画像を美術館の許可を得て使用し作成してきました。
さて、前置きがずいぶん長くなってしまいましたが、来年、2024年のカレンダーです。あらためて集めた作品の中から選びましたが、特に特徴的なことは、コレクションに加え、小田原で行ってきた「アーティスト・イン・レジデンス」で滞在し制作し、寄贈をいただいた国内外の画家の作品を5点選んだということでしょう。ここ数年は画家にしてデザイナーでもある信濃光則さんに編集をお願いしており、スタッフの髙橋玉惠さんの力も借りて作成しました。
実は、そのカレンダーが今日（9月3日）できてきたのです。ドキドキしながら開けてみたのですが、とても素晴らしいのができたと自分では喜んでいます。
皆さんにはどんな風に見ていただけるのでしょうか。9月17日から「ぎゃらりー ぜん」で行われるすどう美術館収蔵作品展で初の御目見得をさせていただきたいと思っています。

Gallery SUDOH Calendar
It is still a little early, but I would like to inform you about the Gallery SUDOH Calendar for the year 2024.
When Gallery SUDOH first opened in Ginza in 1998, we created a calendar to commemorate the opening. The calendar was so well received that we have produced an original calendar every year since then. Counting up to this year, 2023, we have already made 26 calendars.
The calendars we have made in the past have undergone various changes, but we have not changed our basic idea of making calendars that are both artistic and practical.
We have chosen a painter’s work to be displayed at the top, and have devised a numerical side at the bottom that allows for a little writing.
For a while in the beginning, we were sorry to have to ask a male artist to paint a picture, but we asked a female artist with whom we had a relationship to paint a picture and we used it.
We then held exhibitions of original paintings by the 12 artists who had painted for us.
Eventually, we began to include works from our collection in our exhibitions at Gallery SUDOH including those by men.
After the Great East Japan Earthquake, we launched the “GENKI Art Power Project for East Japan” with the cooperation of artists and performers, and for several years we held exhibitions and gave performances in Otsuchi, Iwate, which was severely damaged, to help the victims feel closer to their homes.
In recent years, as exhibitions of the collection have become the main focus, we have begun to create from works in the collection. In particular, in 2020, after the Tama Art University Museum held an exhibition of works from its collection for nearly two months, we have been using images taken by the museum with their permission.
Now, I have to preface this calendar by saying that this is the calendar for next year, 2024. In addition to the works in our collection, we have selected five works by Japanese and foreign artists who stayed and created during our “Artist-in-Residence” program in Odawara and donated their works to us. For the past several years, we have asked Mitsunori Shinano, a painter and designer, to edit the collection, and with the help of our staff member, Tamae Takahashi, we have created this collection.
In fact, the calendar came today (September 3). I was very excited when I opened it, and I am very pleased with how it turned out.
How will you all see it ?It will be shown to everyone at an exhibition at “Gallery Zen” starting September 17.
