Tomita Akira’s paintings were made up of finely drawn pencil drawings, crayon-pass drawings, and familiar materials, just him, his drawings, and both of them.
His sister, Ichimori Keiko, a painter, said, “In his position as the eldest son, it was a time when drawing was still not allowed. Only I was allowed to learn to paint. My brother would have wanted to learn to paint too.”
With these thoughts in her mind, she found a painting that her brother had done before his death.
I want him to see this work.” Ichimori’s wish was realized in this exhibition. The works that made us think so were original and fascinating.
The exhibition was held in the same space as Ichimori’s works, and the echoes between the two works were pleasant to behold.
