美術館には行くけど、ギャラリーには行ったことがない方、家に絵画や作品を掛けてみたいけど、どうしたらいいか分からない方に向けて、現代アートをお家で楽しむには、どうしたらいいかをご紹介しています。
今回は、すどう美術館須藤一郎館長の「館長のひとりごと」を掲載します。
亡妻紀子の追悼展を終えて
丹沢湖畔の落合館の石田勝也、まり子ご夫妻、その他多くの皆さんのご協力を得て3月5日より開催された、「百花 for Noriko Sudoh」展は3月20日に無事に終り、同日および23日に搬出の作業も終了しました。
全体で海外11人を含め、83人にのぼる方が参加、心のこもった作品を出展いただき、落合館、太平楽そして丹沢湖記念館、三保の家の4か所に展示が行われましたこと、亡妻紀子はもちろん、私にとってこのうえない喜びと感謝でいっぱいです。
初日オープニングに出席の参加アーティストの皆さまを始め、会期中にお越しいただきました出展アーティストの皆さまには久し振りにお会いする方も多く、いろいろお話ができましたことも、とてもうれしいことでした。
なお、この展覧会は少し交通不便な地でありましたのに、すどう美術館に関わりのある皆さまだけでなく、一般の方々も予想以上に、たくさんお出かけくださいました。
私事になりますが、会期直前の3月1日に日本経済新聞の文化欄に私の記事が掲載され、追悼展のことにも触れましたこと、そして引き続き、インターFMというラジオから出演依頼があり、3月3日に出演し、この展覧会について話ができましたことも大きな力になったかと思います。
こんなうれしいエピソードもありました。初日に見えて、お二人の作品それぞれをすごく気に入られ、どうしてもその2点の作品が欲しいと言って購入してくださった女性の方がいらっしゃいました。なんでこの展覧会のことを知ったのかお聞きしましたところ、トラックの運転手さんをされており、運転中、FMラジオを聞いていて知り、早速見に来たのです、とのお話をいただきました。
最後になりますが、紀子が亡くなり、すでに三回忌を迎えての展覧会でしたのに、アーティストの皆さまが今も忘れずに気にかけてくださっていたこと、本当にありがたく、多くの皆さまにお出かけいただきましたことも合わせ、私は幸せいっぱいです。

笑顔のオープニング
展覧会の初日、集まった方々で副館長とのエピソードをそれぞれ話しました。
関わる時期が違っていても、副館長の姿は変わらずそこにあり、皆さんの人生に少なからず影響を与えていました。
作家としての方向性を見出すことができた方、描き続けることに自信を与えてもらえた方、自分のしていることを肯定されたと感じた方。
根底にあるのは、「人を信じている」姿勢なのではないかと思います。
楽しむ事、楽しませる事が好きな副館長でしたので、どなたのエピソードも温かく、笑顔になるものでした。
「周りを巻き込む」ことは、大小に関わらず企画を成し遂げるには大事な力です。これは、誰にでもできることではない。
副館長は、一緒にやりたいと思う、魅力あるプロジェクトを組み立てる人でした。
笑顔で皆さんの話を聞いている時、知らず知らずに蒔かれた多くの種が、それぞれの中で花開いているように感じた瞬間でした。
企画から追悼展の全てに尽力していらした、髙橋玉恵さんにお礼を申し上げたい。

If you go to museums but have never been to a gallery.
For those of you who want to hang paintings and artworks in your home, but don’t know how to do about it.
Here are some tips on how to enjoy contemporary art at home.
This time, with the cooperation of Ichiro Sudo, Director of Gallery SUDOH, I will be posting [ Gallery SUDOH director’s monologue ] .
After the memorial exhibition of my late wife, Noriko.
The “Hyakka for Noriko Sudoh” exhibition, which opened on March 5 with the cooperation of Katsuya and Mariko Ishida of Ochiai Kan by Lake Tanzawa and many others, was successfully completed on March 20, and the removal work was completed on the same day and on March 23.
The exhibition was held at four locations: Ochiai Kan, Taiheiraku, Lake Tanzawa Memorial Museum, and Miho no Ie.
My late wife Noriko, of course, and I are filled with the greatest joy and gratitude.
It was a great pleasure for us to meet many of the participating artists who attended the opening on the first day of the exhibition, as well as many of the exhibiting artists who visited us during the exhibition period, many of whom I had not seen in a long time, and to be able to talk with them about various topics.
Although the exhibition was held in a somewhat inconvenient location, many more people than expected came to see it, not only those who are involved with the Gallery SUDOH, but also members of the general public.
On a personal note, my article in the culture section of the Nihon Keizai Shimbun on March 1, just before the exhibition opened, mentioned the memorial exhibition, and I was also asked to appear on Inter FM radio on March 3 to talk about the exhibition, which I think was also a big help.
There was also this happy episode. There was a woman who came on the first day of the exhibition, liked each of the two works so much that she insisted on purchasing both of them. When we asked her how she knew about the exhibition, she told us that she was a truck driver and had heard about it while driving on the FM radio and came to see the exhibition.
Last but not least, I am very grateful that the artists still remembered and cared about Noriko, even though the exhibition was held on the third anniversary of her death, and I am happy that so many people came to see the exhibition.

Smile Opening
On the first day of the exhibition, those gathered shared their own episodes with the deputy director.
Even though the time of their involvement was different, the deputy curator was still there and had no small influence on their lives.
Those who were able to find their direction as an artist, those who were given confidence to continue drawing, and those who felt affirmed in what they were doing.
I think that at the root of it all is a “believe in people” attitude.
The deputy director loved to have fun and entertain, so everyone’s episodes were warm and made us smile.
“Involving others” is an important ability to accomplish a project, no matter how big or small. This is not something that everyone can do.
The deputy director was someone I wanted to work with and assemble an engaging project with.
As I listened to everyone with a smile on my face, it was a moment when I felt as if many seeds unknowingly sown were blossoming within each of us.
We would like to thank Ms. Tamae Takahashi for all her efforts in organizing the memorial exhibition.
