In this video, I introduce the Naoko Oku exhibition “peek-a-boo”.
Video of the exhibition held from November 11 (Sat) to December 3 (Sun), 2023
Venue:Gallery Ishikawa
Enjoy the exhibition in video
Thank you for watching our video.
The works seemed larger than they appeared in the images, and the expressions on their faces made us think about the stories of the motifs, which I enjoyed at the exhibition.
The glassy glaze seen through the holes in the creatures, and the color of the glaze, seemed to express the personality of the characters.
She told me that she decides on motifs from everyday life and novels.
Whether they are demons or creatures, the monsters seem to enjoy being there without a sense of sadness. There is a sense of familiarity, as if they are clipped from their daily lives.
The artist, Naoko Oku, who says that she creates pottery as entertainment, has tried to entertain the viewers in every part of her works.
I would like to invite you to see her works in person.
If you have not been able to see them at the exhibition, please stay tuned to this blog for information about the exhibition as soon as it becomes available.
