関西への旅
久し振りに8月4日から6日まで関西方面に旅をしてきました。
メインの一つは神戸で有名な中華街にある、南京町ギャラリー蝶屋で行われた「神戸ゆかりの美術作家4人展」を見るためです。長いお付き合いのある原大介、住谷重光、宮塚春美の3人と初対面のツトム・ミズタ4人のいずれも神戸に深い関わりを持っている方の展覧会です。この展覧会のことを聞き、早くから「見せていただきに神戸へ行きます」と3人に宣言してしまっていたのです。
初日4日午後2時過ぎ、新神戸に着いた私を住谷さんが迎えに来てくれ、会場に着き、ギャラリーのオーナーや他の3人の画家に温かく迎えられました。
にぎやかな中華街にあるこの展覧会には多くの人が立ち寄ってくれていましたし、各々の画家の旧知の方が訪ねて来てくださりで、人が絶えませんでした。
展示の作品ですが、いずれもそれぞれの個性を残しながら、洗練され、すっきりしており、いい作品でしたし、全体もうまくバランスの取れた気持ちのいい展覧会でした。神戸に見に来た甲斐が十分あり、うれしかったです。
夜7時のギャラリー終了後には、所用のミズタさんを除き、親しい3人の画家との水入らずの夕食会が持たれ、楽しいひと時を過ごさせていただきました。
皆さんにお世話になり、神戸で一泊した翌日の5日は、なんと丹波篠山への旅です。京都出身で今は宝塚で仕事をしながら制作している、同じく親しい画家の下千映子さんから、神戸へ来られるなら足を延ばし、ぜひ家族のいる篠山に来てほしいとのお誘いを受けたのです。ご両親は京都で大きな薬局をしていていましたが、7年ほど前に篠山に終の棲家を見つけ移っています。ご両親とも前から面識があり、私を篠山にお連れするようにと下さんが厳命されていたようです。
丹波篠山はデカンショ節などで有名な場所で、地名はよく知っており、心が動かされ、お言葉に甘え、受けてしまったのです。
宝塚まで電車、そこから下さんの車で篠山まで行き、いろいろ案内していただきました。大きな兵庫陶芸美術館では「デミタスカップの愉しみ」という変わった展示を鑑賞、同じ敷地内のあるレストラン虚空蔵でランチをいただきました。その後、「こんだ〈今田〉薬師温泉」にもお連れいただき、ご実家には夕6時過ぎの到着でした。
家ではご両親、妹さん、それに愛犬の花ちゃんが迎えてくれ、下さんを含め夜遅くまで大歓待を受けました。お父上からは篠山で有名な日本酒4種類を飲ませていただき、お母上からはおいしい料理を何種類も作っていただき、堪能させていただきました。「至れり尽くせり」のおもてなしです。
翌日はまた、下さんが車で篠山城址や著名な鳳鳴酒造の見学などをさせてくれ、帰りには新大阪までお送りいただいて無事に帰宅することができました。
今回もお世話になった皆さんへの感謝、感謝の旅でした。

Journey to Kansai
For the first time in a while, I traveled to the Kansai region from August 4 to 6.
One of the main purposes was to see the “Four Artists Associated with Kobe” exhibition at the Nankinmachi Gallery Choya in Kobe’s famous Chinatown. This exhibition featured Daisuke Hara, Shigemitsu Sumitani, and Harumi Miyatsuka, three of whom I have known for a long time, and four Tsutomu Mizuta, whom I met for the first time, all of whom have deep ties to Kobe. When I heard about this exhibition, I announced to the three of them early on that I would be coming to Kobe to see it.
After 2:00 p.m. on the first day, Mr. Sumitani picked me up when I arrived at Shin-Kobe. I arrived at the venue and was warmly welcomed by the gallery owner and three other painters.
Many people stopped by the exhibition, which was located in the bustling Chinatown area, and there was a constant flow of visitors, including old acquaintances of each of the painters.
The works in the exhibition were all sophisticated, clean, and good, while retaining their individuality, and the exhibition as a whole was well balanced and pleasant. It was well worth the trip to Kobe, and I was very happy.
After the gallery closed at 7:00 p.m., except for Mr. Mizuta, who had some business to attend to, we had an intimate dinner with three of our closest friends, and had a wonderful time together.
On the 5th, the day after I stayed overnight in Kobe, I went on a trip to Tanba Sasayama. Ms. Chieko Shimo, a Kyoto native who now lives and works in Takarazuka, invited me to visit her family in Sasayama if I would come to Kobe. Her parents had a large pharmacy in Kyoto, but about seven years ago they found their final home in Sasayama. I had known them for a long time, and Mr. Shimo had given them strict orders to bring me to Sasayama.
Tanba Sasayama is famous for its decanshobushi, etc. I was familiar with the name of the place and was so moved that I took him up on his offer.
I took the train to Takarazuka, and from there Ms. Shimo drove me to Sasayama, where she showed me around. At the large Hyogo Ceramic Museum, we saw an unusual exhibit called “The Pleasure of Demitasse Cups” and had lunch at the restaurant Kokuzo on the same site. Afterwards, she took us to “Konda Yakushi Onsen” and we arrived at her parents’ house a little after 6:00 pm.
At the house, I was welcomed by her parents, her sister, and her dog, Hana-chan, and received a warm welcome until late at night, including from Ms. Shimo. Her father allowed me to drink four kinds of Sake, which is famous in Sasayama, and her mother cooked many kinds of delicious dishes for me to enjoy. It was a “perfect” hospitality.
The next day, Ms. Shimo drove me to visit the ruins of Sasayama Castle and the famous Houmei Sake Brewery, and on the way home, she drove me back to Shin-Osaka so that I could return home safely.
It was another trip of gratitude and thanks to everyone who helped me!
